ABOUT MARIE
Marie Baird is an emerging Contemporary Painter originally from Airdrie, Scotland. Having lived and worked in the Far East and Europe, she now lives in Norfolk, England with her husband John.
After successful careers in both the Public and the Private Sectors, an opportunity in 2015, allowed her to rekindle her love for painting that life, children and family commitments had put on the back burner for over 40 years.
In 2018, she completed her Diploma in Art, and continues to paint in oils and mixed media from her studio in Dereham. Her paintings are hanging in private homes throughout the UK, Ireland and the USA.
In 2019, her painting, ‘Bright New Day’, oil on canvas, from the series ‘When Words Are Not Enough’, was selected by the Institute of East Anglian Artists (IEAA) for their 2019 Summer Exhibition.
“In my heart I have been an artist all my life. For me painting, especially in oils, is all absorbing. I feel so fortunate to have this opportunity, with the support and encouragement of my family, to explore my passion through my work”.

“For me, a landscape doesn’t exist in it’s own right…the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life.”
Claude Monet

“Art… demands the total involvement of the artist, otherwise it is nothing but decoration.”
Edvard Munch
