ABOUT MARIE

Marie Baird is an emerging Scottish Contemporary Painter originally from Airdrie, Lanarkshire. Having lived and worked in the Far East and Europe, she now lives in Norfolk, England with her husband John.

After successful careers in both the Public and the Private Sectors, an opportunity in 2015, allowed her to rekindle her love for painting that life and family commitments had put on the back burner for over 40 years.

In 2018, she completed her Diploma in Art through the Norfolk Painting School under the tutorage of Course Director and award-winning artist and writer Martin Kinnear, one of Britain’s leading contemporary painters.

In 2019, her painting, ‘Bright New Day’, oil on canvas, from the series ‘When Words Are Not Enough’, was selected by the ‘Institute of East Anglian Artists’ (IEAA) for their 2019 Summer Exhibition.

“I am never happier than in my studio with brush in hand and a primed canvas before me… the anticipation is so scary and yet so incredibly exciting”.

“The artist must train not only his eye but also his soul.” – Wassily Kandinsky, Concerning The Spiritual In Art, 1911

“Welcome to my website! I’d love to share my joy of painting with you.”
